Cooling fan relays
« on: 02 April 2016, 13:46:04 »

Afternoon chaps. Called into my local Vx Watford today. Guy there very helpful :y. Was trying to source some info on the cooling fan relay or relays. Basically I only get high speed kick in when gauge gets uncomfortably high 90s. No low speed, never worked to be honest guys. Anyway his system was only able to confirm, part in question obsolete :( can anyone tell me are there 2 or 1. I.e high + low and which one or ones :y

Same as the horn relay... should be two but don't discount the radiator switches...

There is a guide for testing the system  :y

Does the coolant temp sensor[the ecu one]in the coolant bridge have any bearing on  when/how the fans kick in?

Shouldn't do as they're also, independently, switched at the radiator ;)

That's to say the radiator switches should override any ecu influence if temp rises to/over the switch thresholds...

Do the test in the guide as the relays are pretty bombproof ime... My money is on Aircon not working due to low/no gas and the radiator switches being furred up/cooked.

Two separate issues and should be dealt with as such ;)
