Remove ignition key transponder
« on: 29 May 2016, 11:43:12 »

Why does everything have to be so difficult?

I cannot figure out how to remove the ring transponder around the ignition barrel on my omega.

I've googled endlessly and found only vectra and Astra videos and guides. Nothing on the omega.

It is different than the Astra. It does not have a hole in the top that you 'simply put a pick into and press down'. There is no hole anywhere around it.

PLEASE can someone guide me?

Finally figured it out. Contrary to other guides for Astras etc, the hole is behind the ignition barrel facing towards the back of the car. It's in front of a yellow piece of plastic behind the steering wheel. You need a bent pick to get access and push it in.

I did one last Google and found this thread:

If your talking about the Black Transponder Module, you dont need to do all that, just unplug the blue plug, gently prise it off with a flat blade screwdriver from the side/back and it will fall off.
