RS Focus

Seen a new one of these today-first one I've seen "in the flesh"-now it may be blisteringly quick[I don't know how its performance figures stack up]but from the outside it looked like a very very mildly chavved up ST.Distinctly unimpressed, the previous model looked so much better!

I really dislike the colour most of them seem to be.

The colour of a baby boy's bedroom.

Seriously considered one of these before signing for the BM. I really wanted to like it. Not least because the AWD system was made by my old company (GKN) and is some proper British engineering.

BUT

I found the ride too harsh to use every day, it does look pretty chavvy (although pretty cool in the grey nobody chooses), oh and the interior was poor even by ford's not/overly-high standards. If I'm paying over £30k for a car, it has to feel like a quality product, and the ford didn't to me. Also, my ar$se didn't fit in the seat, well not all of it, at the same time  ;D

I do know from people who've driven them in anger that they are indeed stupidly fast though!

Don't know what the present model uses, but previous RS and ST used 2.5L Volvo 5 pot motor.

The previous 5 pot was used in Volvo too.

The current one uses the ecoboost family, the 2.0l one is used in other stuff, Volvo and others. 2.3 is ford only I think

The Focus RS MK2 with the Volvo 5 cylinder 2.5L engines do sound nice and look pretty good in black, The new RS however isn't much of a looker, doesn't sound nice, interior looks cheap, Styling is bland considering the 'RS' badge.

The new RS is a beautiful beast  8)  (in my eyes anyway), but Ford have missed a trick by only making a manual version.   :-[

That alone counts it out for me.  ;)

I miss mine, Jet Black Sapphire RWD, was running around the 300bhp mark, used to shift, light weight sardine tin on wheels.

I believe it was the last batch of RWD off the line before they went 4x4, the last 100 were all black (Ebony Black) and had the full 4x4 Recaro Leather interior.

Sold mine a few years back, just about got my money back, worth shit loads now,  :'(
