Fuel filter on the 2.5 TD - Where is it?
« on: 02 July 2016, 18:04:06 »

In the next few weeks I'm hoping to give my 2.5 TD a decent service.  Try as I might, I haven't caught sight of where the fuel filter is located. I ought to know, as I changed it on my old TD, but I'm buggered if I can remember!  Can someone remind me please?

drivers side near scuttle, I used to take the fuel pipes off then the complete housing as there is not much room. on replacing fill with diesel magic and clue up. 17mm, 19mm spanners. my td used to always start first turn of the key. afterthought - I may have lifted header tank out of the way a bit. never disturbed coolant though.

Cheers for that, that location does ring a bell, although I couldn't see it when I looked yesterday.

I seem to remember that these are self bleeding too, is that right?

Just done mine again. I have previously done it both ways. The easiest I have found, in this order is: lift the header tank clear, disconnect the electrical plug to avoid damage, slacken the top fuel connection, slacken the the two mounting bolts, remove the top fuel connection, then unscrew the filter canister which is only screwed on hand tight - or should be. If unable to unscrew by hand, then it will be necessary to undo the other fuel connection and mounting bolts and remove the whole assembly to the bench. :y

I never had too bleed always started easy. Shackeng,s post did remind me why I recalled moving the header tank. it made it easier to get to electric connector.  :y
