:-\ Whoever takes over will probably struggle , I think the format has been flogged to death  :(
Thats the problem though, isnt it, you cant copy or replace the original Trio's style or format, its unique to them.

Needs a fresh start, wipe the drawing board clean and start again, only this time with brand new format, style and new ideas. Not an easy job admittedly, but with the amount of budget available, well do able.

The Other Channel seems to got the jest of it, and with a lot smaller budget, no doubt.

Good riddance, cant stand the bloke. I might start watching it again now.
Indeed, watched the first episode and knew it would struggle

Wonder how much his severance pay will be?

Hmm probably not a lot if any. He does a lot of other work for the BBC on TV and Radio. Top Gear was almost a side line in terms of air time. However "not a lot" is relative. "Not a lot" to the BBC and it's obscenely overpaid presenters can be several years income for mere mortals.

Why don,t they go back to the really old format that tested the cars that Joe Public can afford. Or do the viewers of today require endless "celebs" and supercars only? :-\

Amen to that, ronnyd! Real-world cars, real-world testing giving realistic performance and consumption figures to provide informed opinion for the car-buying public - possible?

Ron.

I'm not knocking that idea but, let's be honest, it would be very boring and would disappear on to BBC4. Most modern cars are just clones of each other, with very little to chose between them. There is lots, and I mean lots, of info available on new cars, without having to watch the stig hurtle round in a Nissan micra.

Need to be a better mix of both. I mentally switch off when Ging is just racing around shouting his head off in yet another unaffordable car. Well, unaffordable to most people, not to him

Errr nope!  :o :o

Budget per episode of GT is £4 million.

It's reported the most expensive ever episode of BBC TG was £1.6m, but most came in under £1m. So they have 4x the budget the BBC did.

Netflix picked up the world wide rights to Chris Evans Top Gear dead cheap, but as that looks like a ratings crash, I think Amazon will be very pleased.  :)

Because the most interesting thing about the old format was discussing how dull it was.
Clarkson's radical change from the look how smooth the action of this ashtray is format was a big gamble at the time. Another was needed this time, and they wimped out because TG had become a cash cow. Doubling the number of presenters was a daft idea, especially considering the tedious group they came up with.

Yep...we don't want to return to the days of William Woollard. Watching paint dry was preferable.

Nah....they should be naked, or merely topless if full nudity offends. :)

Put it on at 9PM rather than 8PM.

Problem solved. :y
