Programmable wipers
« on: 31 July 2016, 23:04:29 »

Just a quick question  :P

The omega comes with a variable speed intermitant wiper setting (rolley wheel)

Do you think it is possible to fit a bog standard vectra saloon stalk and fit a .99 relay from a VW that allows you to set the wipe time?

Was a mod on the volvo I wanted to do but never got round to it

Yes, I have a VW 'Learning' relay in the 3.2, it's total shite. Much prefer the wheel, far quicker to adjust to varying conditions.

Ahh, it's still a fantastic idea. I fancy giving it a go at some point, but there's several options, standard 'wheel' stalk, the 'VW 99' relay, and rain sensing wipers. Pays your money, each to their own, there's haters out here for all, ultimately down to personal preference.  :)

My 3.2 Vectra C Elite has Rain Sense system and Variable wiper stalk, seems to do a good job over the standard Rain Sense on the Omega's, keep meaning to have a rip out and have a look to see if its an easy mod.

See, that would be the 'ultimate' for me - rain sensing wipers - which obviously cut in when wet - but then allowing me to override, should I deem the level of intermittent wiping to be too much/little.  :)

I have the VW relay in mine....takes a bit of getting used to, but once sussed, its pretty good :y
Reason for fitting was the CD does not have adjustable intermittent wipers that the Elite's do :y

My Merc's rain sensor wipers still have a flick wipe option  :y

Interesting the older CD's and CDX's do - mine from 2001 / 2000 all do - cost cutting in the latter years?

Don't know, Steve....only that the CD is 03 and it was a right pain when in light rain. The new relay makes all the difference :y
