So driving around Peterborough this morning the oil light came on!    I pulled over and checked everything and all seemed well, no oil slick or big leaks, the motor was running smoothly, the temperature was normal and there was plenty of oil in it. 

So I drove home to West Dorset!   

I'm assuming that the oil pressure sender unit has packed up.  I think that's the long one on the front of the block? 

Any other ideas chaps? TIA.

Yeah i would think it has to be the pressure switch if u drove it a fair distance with no explosions.

As u look at the engine from the front it's down on the left hand bottom corner. Somewhere there.

Do I need to drain the oil to change the oil pressure switch? or is the level below the switch?  Bearing in mind it'll be jacked up at the front as well, so the oil should fall to the back of the engine.

All you need to do is spend £4 on a new switch, find a suitable spanner(23mm if I remember), open the bonnet and change them over. Wiping up the oil would be a good idea, and a good squirt of carb/brake cleaner into the plug is essential.

This reminds me.. My oil light bulb blew about 1K miles ago.

My oil light comes on when it feels like it as do the TC light and the alternator. and now the airbag is on all the time joining whichever eml and the other service light which take turns to come on or stay off.
