Trade Club service poor at Platinum Trowbridge
« on: 02 August 2016, 10:49:41 »

I have long bought service parts and materials Trade Club via autobahnstormers membership. My nearest supplier is Drive Vauxhall, Avon Streeet, Bristol. I happened to be in Wiltshire last Friday so popped into Platinum Trowbridge for oil and antifreeze. Did not see the invoice, man popped figure into card reader and I inserted pin number, I then drove round the back to collect the goods. Surprisingly man popped into my car 2 cartons, each containing 4 5 litre bottles, rather than 2 20 litre bottles. I hurried off, due on 1st tee at Didcot at 1200. When I got home I looked at the invoice, and was shocked. What had cost £47.74 at Bristol cost £98.76 at Trowbridge.

Rang up Monday and complained., Today returned goods for a full refund. Man said they did not stock 20 litre bottles any more. 'Why not', I asked. 'They are less than half the price. Whole point of trade club is to save money'. Reply came there none.

and yet oddly at mine they don't want to give you the 4 5 litres, only the 20 l drum - which for the owner mechanic is a bit annoying as I have to find a ledge/low wall etc to balance the drum which weighs the same as me, to then pour some into the smaller 5 l tubs, to then pour in the engine. Then wash all the 10-40 off my DocMartens  :D

I agree 4 5 litre bottles are more convenient. They used to sell as buy 3 get one free, so price was about £30 for a carton of four. Not at Trowbridge, they want £40.56 plus VAT.

If it were practical I'd happily buy them from my local dealer on your behalf and you pick them up. Sorry to hear it. Varying prices seems to be the norm with the Stealers.  >:(

Did this price include the antifreeze?

I recently bought 2 x 5 litres of Shell Helix Ultra 5W 30 for £20  from ECP. Free delivery.
