When is 0% finance over 2 years not 0% finance over 2 years?
« on: 05 September 2016, 12:33:54 »

"Would you like 0% finance on your Jaguar, Sir"

"Is there a catch?"

"Absolutely none"

"Email me the details"

But there was a catch.

Added without my consent to the invoice was.

Asset protection cover £349.
Autoglym Lifetime......£499.
Complete wheel cover £699.
Minor damage cover...£499.

 TOTAL....................£2046.

Needless to say when I asked them to remove this unnecessary crap 0% finance became 7.9%.

It seems that car dealers just can't stop themselves from being devious. :-\

If genuine interest free finance had been available I would have used it. It wasn't, so I used cash from down the back of the sofa. :)

I was offered all the same things on the Skoda including 'Tyre insurance' ..

They were all considerably cheaper, mind, but I guess that's the Jaguar premium!

Your car is not a proper Skoda. :)

A proper Skoda has the engine at the rear and breaks down on a regular basis. A proper Skoda is made by Czechoslovakian communists. ;)

Is it?  Many dealers make more money via their finance deals

Yep, in another life I sold Static Caravans for a living and I'll never forget one chap who was buying a top end model for about £30,000 and on finance as well.  My commission would have been £200 for the Van and nearly £2000 for the finance.  :)

While we were waiting for approval from the finance company, I could see the cogs turning in his head and started to sweat.  Sure enough as the fax machine started to spit out the approval note for his finance, he turned to me and said that he'd pay cash and I saw £2000 fly out the window....  :(

Never really held it against him really as the APR was about 16%!!  :o  ::)
