How to disable the start/stop system on a Jaguar XFR.
« on: 19 November 2016, 14:30:58 »

If I'd wanted to save the planet I would have bought a Toyota 'Pious'

I find the stop/start system a pain in the arse and imagine the amount of petrol it saves could be measured in a thimble. Pointless really.

I think the system should be permanently disabled unless I feel the need to save a barely alive sapling somewhere in the world. The whole system is annoying and clearly designed by an individual  with a 'nanny knows best ' mentality.

Anyway, I digress.

I have read elsewhere that the system can be disabled by disconnecting the negative battery lead from the small motorcycle-sized auxiliary battery located in the boot.

True or false?

The main battery is 90 A/H and I will leave well alone.

Any ideas, chaps?

It can be disabled with a button every time the engine is started.

I remember to do this about two times in every ten and then the engine dies. I want the system disabled permanently.

Just make a ritual of doing it when you clip your seat belt on, you,ll soon get the hang of it. ;)

Can the dealer not help you? Must just be a setting in the software I would have thought....

Most can't be disabled by the owner, for tree hugging reasons.

Many can have it disabled by the dealer, but good luck with that one.

I'd be very surprised if the dealer would do it, he would immediately be altering the cars claimed mpg and emissions.

Disconnect it, this is a 50% solution in that at least the car won't start  ::)

Stick a nice yellow post-it note on the dash to remind you to turn off the Stop/Start.  :)

Typical of the 'nanny knows best' attitude we have today.

Jaguar should have designed the system so that you have the option to switch it on......rather than have to switch the little f*cker off. :-\

Jag's is just the same as others ... probably hands tied by the tree huggers. Aren't there any Jag forums where someone clever has made a electrickery gizmo?  :-\

I wonder how different a Smart is?  :-\  ::)
