The pie chart makes for interesting reading.

Perhaps TB's mass cull should start with the 'coffin dodgers'

I assumed unemployment benefit would be considerably more. That is what the oracle that is Daily Mail would like us to believe. ::)

I suspect that the bulk of it is in the 'other' section... But pensions aren't a benefit... Without that £92 billion, the £16.5 billion that unemployment and other are quite significant.

That's the trouble with statistics though, they can be manipulated and misrepresented to suit most arguments ::)

Because many people are living longer we have a situation where many/most pensioners have taken out of the system far more than they ever put in.

We have a pensioner time bomb just waiting to overwhelm the system.

You've merely added the 14 billion of 'others' to unemployment. Very naughty. ;) ;D

That chart clearly states that only just over £92 is coughed up for pensions, not a lot to go round all the oap's   :o

Far more than 92 billion in reality.

There is another 6.5 billion in pension credit 'top up'

Then there is attendance allowance. There will also be some disability benefits, which come with age and decline.

Also a portion of the housing benefits pot to help with rent for those pensioners who don't own their own home.

Old people are expensive. :)

It doesn't say billion, just says £92.1, so I assume that means 92 pounds and 10 pence  ::)

The Conservatives believe in what they call 'self-reliance'. This is admirable. I also believe in it, as do millions of socialists.

Where the Tories fall down in my estimation is that they have an inbuilt philosophy of  'I do well by exploiting you'......I make lots of money by getting the 'plebs and prols'  to work for long hours in poor conditions for extremely poor pay. This is why we have the working poor. Hard working people who need additional help in the form of working tax credits to survive)

Good employers do not need their workers wages to be topped up by the taxpayer because they pay a decent wage. Bad employers do. :-\
Thing is, thanks to your Socialist benefits system, the plebs and prols don't actually do anything ::)

The reason that wages are artificially low is due to the fact that an entire generation of Eastern Europeans voluntarily came West specifically to be less exploited than at home...

Low wage business  presents a great opportunity for reprobate employers. 'We get rich because the government/taxpayer makes up the shortfall'.

Individuals/companies who don't have a financially viable business should not employ people.
The whole system you speak off was introduced by Gormless Brown. The worst Chancellor in history.
Until Blair / Brown etc. came along I was a lifelong Labour voter. But as their Govt. got into its stride it became very obvious to me that although I was earning more money than I ever had done before, I was the poorest I had ever been.
It became evident that this was due to the economic policies - stealth taxes etc. etc.
This got me to questioning all my beliefs about politics, which I had assumed to be right for a long time.
At the end of that process of discovering how the the really important things in life, like individual freedom and responsibility were totally alien to left wing thinking, I was somewhere to the right of Ghengis Khan.  :)
Society should be structured so that everyone can work and keep themselves. If some people genuinely cant work, society should provide them with food, warmth and shelter. No more and no less.
