The answer is in the other thread, about £500 on the Omega and the rest on the '51 plate Corsa courtesy car... could have rented a proper car at that money :o

Hi Nick

Exactly! An Omega is not worth to take it to an professional workshop. That is the point. If you decide to hold the car, there is one thing you first have to do: learning! So I had to organize it in another way. All by myself! None of my Omegas ever saw a workshop inside since being in my hand. Never failed at MOT, getting better every year!

Cheap solution to get a perfect car over the years. It works, but much to do...

Rolf                               Absolutely true.this is most likely the case for many members on here and why my cars would have been long gone if me or someone like me hadnt bought them.

Cam cover gaskets, oil cooler gaskets and one to do with the oil filter housing to my knowledge.

Oil cooler doesn't have a gasket. Oil filter gasket is just a big O - ring which is supplied with the filter.

I got the impression it's a gasket engine side and not the o ring for the on the filter, eather way most gaskets are being replaced as most of the engine is in bits.
Why has the oil cooler got no gaskets and how does it seal?

Sealant. Far more efficient. Same for both sumps. ;)

Must be the grey sealant for the oil cooler cover plate though, would the sump sealant be the same black sealant as used on cam cover gaskets?

I've taken mine out today and as this beetle went past I noticed the fella in the passenger seat staining for ages, took a few seconds for the penny to drop, I was in the omega!
Even furling her I'm getting compliments and it's taking some getting used too
