Having spent months searching, I've come to the conclusion there isn't a £15k or less replacement for the Omega, without accepting compromises.

£15k is a lot to spend to have something less than you already have....

That old story that comes around again BUT .. This looks very tempting  :)

3.5

For that money you could have a UK 350z, I read somewhere last week that it could be a car that will start appreciating in price, worth a thought  :y

As for it not being an Omega replacement? Whatever you replace your Omega with is a Omega replacement ;)

That's been chavv'd up, stupid boot spoiler and other bits.  :(

Yes that particular one does seem to have an odd looking rear spoiler ..could live with the rest , just an example car but do like the shape and whats under that bonnet  :)

I may be wrong but I don't think it's been chav'd up, it could have been ordered to 'Alpina' spec.  :-\

One V8 I always fancied[although they're very old now]was a Tatra-before they went to the squared off shape-air cooled V8 slung out the back end and petrol powered cabin heater what could possibly go wrong :D

Agreed. I'm getting past the boy racer stage now at 57, so a big luxury barge with lots of toys and reasonable grunt fits the bill nicely.
Still hoping to have an e38 740i, but decent ones seem to be rising in value, fast.

Yes im with that opinion . Ive always liked the old  LS400 , ok its not the best looking 0f cars but look at all the toys you get and those big comfy armchairs  :) Someone on here owned or owns one  :-\

Ign Coils are £140 each. There are eight of them. Their ECUs get upset by mobile phone networks... Just say no. Please. Save yourself.  :)

Thanks for that , never would have thought they would be so expensive  :o Looks like the 540 mite be on the cards , and this one looks a very good one :

540

Be mindful of the timing chain guide issue when buying an M62 V8. It's a very involved procedure to change them and once you've opened it up you're presented with a number of expensive "while I'm here" dilemas.  If you like an easy worry free life it's probably not the engine of choice.

x28i engines are underrated in my opinion. Well maintained they're beautifully quiet and more than adeqautely powerful for most people.

As with most bmws of this era, when they're working they're unbeatable.  8)

Just out of interest, why dismiss the LS 460? Can be had low mileage for about half the £15k and with the exception of mpg is surely a superior motor to the Mig. Faster, more comfy, quieter, more toys etc etc.

I'm not old enough or incontinent enough to own a large Toyota yet.  When I stink of piss, thats the time to get one.

Faster, yeah, in an understated way :y. More comfortable? Never spent more than 90 mins in one, and I was quite happy to get out. But boring as heck and dull to be in.

I wouldn't have a modern Merc, since they decided to stop properly designing cars, which has become evident in the chassis (lack of) performance.

Monaro has practically issues. VXR8 not in budget, and the more modern ones could be a worry leavign places, as it hardly blends in.

C140 Mercs are still under appreciated and therefore reasonably priced ;)

Although if the Monaro is considered impractical, then a 17" 2 door Coupe might not pass muster, although they are no lower than the standard car...

Another Japanese oddball, Pretty sure it's been discussed before. Some liked it some didn't... nothing new there then  ;D

Better looking than some jap cars, Doubt I'd own one personally though, But haven't driven or seen on in the flesh so will reserve judgment.
