hi all.

have this odd problem I will try to explain the best I can.

problem first stated on cold start up was missing for about 30 seconds then it was fine.

then week later same as above but now every now and then when you go to accelerate it dies like the ignition has been turned of, take foot of accelerator and push it again its fine.

now this morn it was only running on 3 pots for my drive up the road. turned it of restarted it was fine but now the engine management light has come on looked at codes it just said missfire on pot 2.

 any idea chaps  :'(

Take the coil pack out and expect to find the plug well full of oil ;)

A years mortgage payments says the cam cover. Blocked breathers being the underlying cause.

will have a look later but had new plugs last week and the chap that does it for me never mentioned anything about oil I did tell him about the missing he mentioned coil pack are they something that goes often i had the car 4 years and never had it changed

Never had a problem in over 100k ownership with mine, with my old 2.2  :)

Pop the ECOTEC cover off and coil pack out, check the plugs, only takes a couple of mins. But probably a cam cover failed, letting oil into the plugs or a plug failed/faulty.

Are you loosing any coolant?

yes has been losing a little water but that  was the water pump has been replaced should be okay on that side now  :y

this may seem a daft question but I'm not very mechanicly minded what is te tool called that I need to remove the coil pack  :-\

There are two torx screws holding the coil pack in itself, so you need a star drive head for this. Other than that, no other tools, just un-clip the loom at the back for the pack itself.

checked for oil in plug wells all as dry as a bone so no oil in there any other ideas chaps  :y

Take the coil pack out and the rubber boot off. Could be cracked on the bit where the boot fits onto the coil pack. Its what happened to mine once

The rubber boot that connects to the spark plug. Pull that off and look at the coil pack where the rubber boot slips over

If the coil pack is cracked and deteriorating, try 'patching it up' with Araldite, after cleaning and drying out. I did this successfully on a 2.6l some time ago and remarkably it solved the misfiring problem.

Happy to do Omega servicing etc around Merseyside,cruise activation, airbag lights sorted too...
