Who's next up?
« on: 11 June 2017, 10:50:07 »

There will be a meeting of the Conservative Party's powerful 1922 Committee this week.  Can Theresa May survive or will they have their knives out for her?  ::)

So who do you think will be leading the country in the next few months/years?  ???

One thing I think is for sure, is that we will follow Australia's lead where they have General Elections and new PM's on a regular basis.  ::)

Strong and Stable!  :y  ::)  ;D

Well you can cross Boris off the list, doubt He wants it, thats why He pulled out last time, writing on the wall and all that.

He might act like an idiot, but He's not stupid, no ones wants to be the Captain of a Sinking Ship.

They have no option but to back May until she can safely be knifed in the back, which is probably just after Brexit.

That's the voice of reason, of course.... What they'll actually do is probably another matter. ;D

Agreed.

Clearly poor at running a campaign, missed this open goal.

Somehow stumble through next 2 years, get brexit done. The she should resign and let new leader wash themselves of her choices and prepare for next election.

I would not be surprised though if Boris is PM before Christmas

The all the people who are screaming for May to stand down will spend the next 4 years screaming that he has no mandate, etc etc.
I'm consciously trying to avoid the news for a while tbh. Ive just heard the pigmy Thornberry proclaim that not only did the public completely reject the Tory manifesto, but also that Labour didn't lose the election ! I'm getting too long in the tooth to listen to that kind of verbal dysentery.

That's why I was saying on that other thread just before the election, it will be a coalition.

It didn't really matter how bad the tory campaign was, Labour promised abolition of student fees, which is enough to get all the students and parents of those planning on going to university out and voting Labour.

Matters not that its undeliverable.

At the end of the day, Theresa May is a very poor, serial failure of a politician. Everything in the manifesto will have been passed by her. Her poor judgment cost her a majority.

Dementia tax, means-testing the winter fuel allowance, removing the triple lock and bringing back fox hunting, were crazy all vote losing policies and had no place in a 'sales brochure'.

The first 3 cost her middle age and senior votes by them abstaining or voting Labour. Disapproval of fox hunting was the biggest topic being discussed by snowflakes on social media, bigger than tuition fees! It is estimated that these items cost her 10 to 20 seats.

Cameron could have made it much, much worse where he didn't say he wanted to clamp down of extremism when PM, but he was always opposed and had his will subverted by Theresa May. Although the 20,000 police officers became a big issue an equally big one was May getting rid of the majority of the Coast Guard cutters on the East coast, so there are now only two to patrol the complete Eastern coastline. This is now effectively an open border to people smugglers, which will include terrorists and their equipment. May's big idea to solve extremism while at the Home Office was a parallel legal system outside of the official English one, Sharia Law for all, but due to the universal condemning of this as an idea, she eventually dropped it although many people still call her by her nickname Sharia May! :o :o :o

Personally, I have no confidence in her delivering anything meaningful while in office and I think she will make a complete mess of the #Brexit negotiations, so we have an avoidable severe recession with a massive drop in exports to EU countries. :( :( :(

She will then be dumped and Boris will have 3 years to stop the rot and the country becoming Corbyn's United Peoples Democratic Socialist Republic of Britain. >:( >:( >:(
