XFR V Signum economy test.
« on: 17 June 2017, 12:50:43 »

It's two weeks ago so the trauma of driving  unnaturally slowly is starting to fade. It wasn't meant to happen this way. :-\

Let down a van hire company that needs it's balls removing made it so. :(

With seats folded down the mighty Signum is deceptively  roomy. The Jag has a large boot and with every bit of available space rammed full of assorted objects (leading to very limited visibility) both cars appeared to sag on their haunches.

Trip computers set to zero and driving in tandem at speeds that would make even Tunnie shout "FFS get a move on" we  started out on the 200 mile journey. Easy does it.

M42, M6, M69, M1 were clear with 60 MPH limits showing overhead on the M42. Only major congestion being Kidderminster and joining the M42 at Bromsgrove. Both cars have 'long gearing' which meant  rarely going over 2000 RPM.

The result.......Signum 36.8 MPG. Jaguar XFR 30.9 MPG. I hope never to have to drive like this again.

If my new car manages two thirds of the Jags number I shall consider myself fortuitous :D

Did you ever get things finalised with your insurance company re the foreign truck which rammed your house a couple of years ago?

I pass by from time to time & keep forgetting to ask .......
