Yep, broke tib & fib yesterday. Likely to be out for 5 or 6 weeks. That's his championship ruined.  :(
Althoughtbh, the Yamaha has never looked quite competitive to do it this year anyway, but hes not far of the lead at the moment.
Up to this point its been the closest championship battle in the history of the sport with at least 4 riders neck and neck in the battle.
Thas almost certainly going to be ruined now, which is a terrible shame.  :(

While close I don't think he had much chance of taking the title this year, but I'd say that certainly finishes any hopes he may have had.He is undoubtedly one of the greatest of all time and apart from the fact he still enjoys it I think he's staying to try and win a 10th title to take him to 3rd in the championship winning stakes behind Agostini and the late Nieto.

He is also just a few wins short of Ago,s record of all time wins. I have no doubt that he is the best rider of all time tbh.
When Ago was achieving his wins, riders would ride in 250,350 and 500 classes in the same day and potentially win three races on the same day.
Also, when Ago was riding the MV, there was nothing that could get near it, so he had very little competition.
I would love to see Rossi, get one more title before he retires. I think he really deserves it for what he has done for the sport.
MotoGp was dead on its arse before he arrived in the big class.
In the late 90,s WSB at Brands would attract crowds of well over 100,000 and MotoGP at Donington would struggle to attract 20,000.
That was reversed in the space of a couple of years, and all the extra people at the MotoGp were there to see Rossi.

What has changed is that (as always) time has moved on and other riders have caught up.

Ten years ago Rossi was the best by a country mile. Now he is part of a group of equally talented riders.

I also would like to see if the 'old fella' has one more title in him. :y

That's the thing. Hes staring 40 in the face and yet is within a gnats of still being as quick as the new young guns. Marquez is superhuman on a bike. He defies all the laws of physics every time he takes to the track, yet Rossi still has enough speed and all that experience to give him plenty to worry about.
Tbh, I think he needs a fair but of luck and maybe a small bike advantage to give him another title, but hes still prepared to ride balls out to get it, so it would still be thoroughly deserved if he did get one , imo.
He should have won it the season before last, but the Spanish mafia of Lorenzo, Marquez, Honda (sponsored by Repsol), and Dorna, who run the whole show, conspired to literally steal it from him.
That's why I will never have a shred of respect for Marquez or Lorenzo, as men, no matter how good they are on a bike.

Couldn't agree more re-Rossi winning another title.I've been a fan of his since he started in GPs in 1996,and so was Maureen.Be good to see him beat Ago's race win total too[I was and still am a fan of his too] I think Rossi is still "hungry" for it even though he's now an "old man".I did once read that Rossi when asked if he was the GOAT said probably not but he rated himself in the top five.He has done wonders for the spectacle of GP racing what with his different colour schemes, his antics after winning a race[portaloo anyone?]and not least his amazing skill and talent. In many ways I for one will be sorry to see him retire.

I've been a fan of Rossi since his 125 days, you could see his level of skill made him stand out from the rest. I would love to see him win the world championship again, but sadly it is not going to be this season.
