It doesn't matter to me as I dont smoke, but I am happy that the ban is in place as it's not nice when there is smoke in pubs, and its good to have a smoke free environment.

Just a pity you have to take a very deep breath on the approach to the front door to get past and in....   >:(

Went for an Italian meal the other week & about 5 people got up from a table to go outside, but the door was propped open for fresh air & it was all blowing in. Kinda goes against the idea

i gave up about 8 years ago after smoking for 17 years was the best thing i ever did.

i gave up because i wanted a Porsche, the deal was i gave up and the wife allowed me to have one, i gave up, got the car and 6 months later she fell pregnant with Mia so it had to go  :'(

i never started again because giving up was really hard and i would never want to go through that again

well they cost me 23euros for 200, now heres the rub as many of you know we moved to Spain cos of the wifes heart condition(and thank god since we have been here she has been real good and healthy none of the "attacks") however her proffessor Watkins is the top heart specialist in england who actually owns the clinic at the JR in oxford,
did all the tests for lungs and blood impurties and diseases etc etc asked her if she smoked and when she said yes should i quit? he promptly replied not if you dont want to your condition isnt being affected it by the smoking and there is nothing to worry about by doing it your lungs are healthy so carry on, when asked about all the adverts on tv he replied, lets just say dont believe all you see on the box and the government has to be seen to be doing something to justify the cost!!!
Make of that what you will but i was there and could barely believe my ears!!

You are right why do they have to stand at the entrance door  >:(
And its not just pubs its the little local Tesco there always seems to be a group or teens on bikes right in the door way and even a really hard stare wont move them , can you tell I do not smoke  ;)

How much are ciggies these days as a matter of interest?

Depending on the brand about £5.00 a pack.

So if you smoke 20 a day that's £35 a week, that's £1820 a year.

That's probably a very good 3.2 Elite. You've got me thinking now Skruntie ;) ;)

Well thats the reason i went over too rolling baccy...£5 for 50g as opposed too £10 in shops.

Just need too find a good supplier now... >:(

Mind you at 34yrs old feel like a 70 yr with one lung right now.....gotta stop soon before im 6 foot under. :(

Believe me you don’t,  unless it was on one of his good days.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think I have a fair grounds to comment....

My gran died of cancer.
So did my dad.
and my mother.
Father in law died of cancer.
Mother in law had a cancer induced mastectomy 25 years ago and still here to tell us about it, thankfully.
Wife has beat cancer once already, now partway through chemo and looking good to beating it again.

and thats not bringing extended family (aunts and uncles etc) into it.....

Does not help when we have to walk through a public open area, channelled into the smoke filled doorway into an establishment, to enjoy our evening.

No way to link persons who pass through the smoke to the pub to getting leggless, in much the same way that passing through the smoke gives you cancer.

Based on percentages, however, things tell a different tale.

But each to their own... :y

The point I poorly tried to put was that you did not feel like a guy with one lung, even on his worst days, regardless of his age.
I know, I have 1 lung, 34% Volume and 40% efficiency, that is what they can do for real. :(

I hear what your saying about cancer and loosing family members...after all lost Both grandmothers too cancer...my father...my mother had cervical cancer and i had a tumour removed whilst in primary school.

Id still rather smoke than drink.... :y

No one seems too bleet on about the trouble and deseases drinking causes do they...hell im sure a 3.0 pumps out more harmfull crap than a smoker does. ;)

It wasnt that long along people were actually encourage too START smoking...my mums doctor told her she should smoke menthol when she was 15 yrs old. ;D

No sorry but as far as im concerned places like pubs are traditionaly a smokey enveiroment....if a non smoker wants a non smoke place to drink there shady then whats wrong with there front room. :y

Resturants i agree with.....pubs i dont.

Oh and my mum"s a mad old cow.....dont stop me eating beef though. ;)

No probs with smoking and tradition....  Just dont want to be a traditional statistic, thanks.....

If you want to smoke, get your pub to seperate the smoking area and the access door, not join them into one and the same.   :y
