Could end up being a cheap car, but high mileage for a 2.0 manual.  I say that in a way that I dont think the V6 autos dont get driven as hard as say the V6 Manuals.  and with this beaing an estate with a less powerfull engine it could well have been a workhorse.

Look at the threads Jamesv6cdx has posted.  Cracking looking car but the bills on the parts have started to add up.

What do you think?

Needs to be very cheap, base model with a four pot and some issues - irrelevant if it's a small hole or large hole in the exhaust as it'll most likely need a new one.
If it's putting the eml lamp on it potentially means the hole is pre the Catalytic convertor which could prove to be expensive

Thanks. Could the engine light mean a worse problem?

Probably the sensor is picking up wrong fuel/oxygen mix. It could be some unrelated reason but for the age/mileage and condition I'd leave it alone.

Could be multiple codes, would need codes reading to find out what's going on.

Personally I think you could do better than that car Kate.
2 litre Omegas are not great on petrol either.
Too little power pushing too much weight leads to big throttle openings :y :y

There are 22 Estates for sale under £1k on Autotrader - and a further 90+ saloons.

Some of them must be working ok :y
