Fear not, they're still shooting people... Tear gas and water cannons, having proven ineffective, have be replaced with live rounds. Unfortunately the people doing the shooting haven't quite grasped the concept of instant media. When they do, the Internet and mobile networks will be very quickly turned off. When that happens, all hell will break loose.

It won't be pretty, but the Ayatollahs' tenure is coming towards its end.

Yes, as with all ‘empires’ or regimes they eventually implode, with maybe just a little help from others on the outside! :D
