Hi guys,
I've recently posted a technical query about my omega and the wiring to some of the sensors.
https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=146335.0Question #1: can the ECU pop? - as my knowledge goes, most sensors have a power wire (12v), signal wire (0-5v) and a ground/earth. If the wires got swapped around due to incompetence, will something die permanently? I'd imagine if the 5v signal wire suddenly received 12v, something on the ECU would let it's smoke out? The original ECU starts the car, but I can't get rid of the faults from the sensors with dodgy wiring.
2. In preparation for finding out my ECU is poked, I ordered another one, as close to the same label as possible. I did not, however, receive the matching coded key and RFID ring. Is it possible to remove the encoded portion of the ECU to have it work without the corresponding key? Here in South Africa its common practice to "unlock" the motronic boxes on the corsas and astras as hardware is re-purposed from car to car, but the guy i send my ECU's to cannot "unlock" the omega box as the software he uses is not compatible with the chip.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
