Almost every long established company in the world had some connection with slavery, I'll wager. How could they possibly avoid it? It was the way of the world in those days. Rather than demands for compensation and reparations, I think a period of reflection, followed by forgiveness and a new start would be the only way forward. Looking to the past is like us blaming present day Germany for the war(s).
Ok, teach about slavery at school, as we do about wars of the past, but we must move on, the world is in a parlous state and, the way things are going, the people of colour who were born, and live and work in our country, will have to decide if they want to be part of what's coming as defenders of our way of life as it is today, or as protesters over the past.

Yes, let’s move on and strive to just live and work together properly, all this blm protesting is just making things worse. I guess a lot of people who were sympathetic with them are changing their minds now so it’s going to backfire on them.

That is not really relevant to the current goings on. He refers to Mugabe who, as we know, is no longer with us. But he proves a point: There are antagonists on both sides.

The country music group Dixie Chicks have now dropped the word Dixie from their name due to its association with the Southern states and therefore slavery.

Regional heritage is something to be proud of, and by dropping the reference to it shows that they neither understand it or appreciate what it means.
