Saw Lewis in action yesterday
« on: 01 September 2008, 11:35:19 »

Went to Brands Hatch to see the DTM series (German touring cars) and Lewis Hamilton made an appearance in his Maclaren F1 car. He spent about 20 mins on the circuit showing off his driving skills (which really are fantastic), holding the car on its rev limiter then doing practice starts around various sections of the circuit and blasting the car on a hot lap. At the end of the display he ended up doing doughnuts right in front of where we were sitting then stalled the car, got out and waved to the crowd. Top stuff!! :y :y :y

Unfortunately, no pics as my bl00dy camera battery ran out! :'(

Oh yes,......and the DTM's were superb. :y

Ah, you guessed then!! ::)

LeMans 24 hours is one event that I'd really love to go to but have yet to get around to. I seem to remember you telling me about your experiences of going to LeMan at one of the last meets. Perhaps we should organise an OOF LeMan trip. ;)

Ive been saying this for 2 years ::)

It really is a good laugh, you can walk around the pits up to an hour before the race, there's loads to see and do and then there's the start and finish of the race :)

Looks a superb place Kev. :y By my reckoning it would cost around £200 for a weeks stay there. If we were to plan a LeMans OOF trip it might be better organised by guys such as yourself or Elite Pete as you've had the experience of going before, but I would gladly help out in the planning if there's enough serious interest in going next year. :y

It would have to be done pronto as the tickets sell out very quickly and I wouldn't be surprised if next years were all gone ::)

Hmmm......you could be right.

As it may take a fair bit of organising and planning maybe we should start planning a trip for 2010 instead then. :-?

The main thing is to get the camp site organised before Christmas-ish IIRC.  You can turn up at the gate and get general entrace tickets. You probably need to book in advance for grandstand seating and parking at the circuit.

It undoubtedly would be, except I'm not going. :'(

However, it would be good to get an idea of the level of interest. :y

I plan to be blatting round Scotland in a Westfield in the rain.

I think another issue could be the fact the dates are not yet known, its normally but not always the 24th week of the year.
