Some lockdown
« on: 23 November 2020, 07:42:50 »

Mrs rang me earlier to say that it took her 10 minutes to get on to the M1 at junction 36, it was rammed on all entry roads. Apparently, when we come out of 'lockdown' on December 2nd, some parts of the country will have to remain in tier 3, but pubs serving food can open till eleven, gyms can open and all shops. What's all that about?  ;D

Christmas? You know the time we celebrate Jesus, Magi and the like. Might also be to boost the economy...........

What's it all about Alfie?  A great girl from Liverpool once asked that:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glpIgnmKrZc       ;D ;D ;D ;)

But seriously, I do wonder about what is being done; what we are doing.   Today my daughter got a telephone call from her eldest son's special school stating that 2 members of staff and 4 children had been confirmed to have C-19.  Her son is actually at home after have a high temperature for half a day so he was sent home last week.

So this afternoon he went to be tested, with the result due over the next 72 hours.  But did his school or her youngest son's school recommend the family (and me as I am giving her support) should isolate / get tested?  Well no.  Just wait for the result apparently.  The boys father, who lives elsewhere but sees his son daily, also apparently does not need to isolate and can still go to work until the result is known.

This instruction from the schools does not make sense, so we are all now isolating until the result is known, as 119 gave her that advice but did not instruct us to get tested.

We are baffled why we should not be tested as the special school has the confirmed cases, that even one of their teachers did not know about as she was off duty so was told about it all be my daughter. The school indeed is staying open.  So do the authorities really know what advice to give and for the reasons for it?

I find this as confusing as the so called "lock down", which so many seem to be ignoring.  No wonder North Kent is becoming rampant with COVID cases!! ::) ::) :P

You just know this Christmas madness is going to end badly, there is absolutely no improvement regarding the virus/numbers subsiding around the UK.

Me and the wife discussed it last night. No decorations, no Christmas dinner....just no! I've hated it for years, this year she is starting to see just how false and shallow the whole thing is. My lad will be home but he only comes down for his pressie (at lunchtime, when he wakes up) and to raid the fridge. He doesn't like Christmas dinner either.
We will refuse to be christmassy but also refuse to be miserable. Long walk with dog, spot of lunch (buffet), another walk, more food, burp, fart, bed.

One of my granddaughter s got a call from her daughters special school a couple of weeks ago to ask her to pick the child up and get her tested for Covid and if she tested positive they'd have to self isolate for a period of days.test result was back inside 24hrs and proved negative.

Some of my lads year mates have been sent home due to a positive case.

Turns out the positive case sits next to him in Chemistry, yet the school seem to have forgotten the Chemistry group (the Physics class members who are sat close have been told to self isolate).

The schools all seem to be doing different things in different areas it must be extremely difficult for them to cope with the situation at present.

If you search the instructions to the schools its all reasonably straight forward, but its standard education system half a job  ;D

Whenever there's a positive test, kids or teachers, public health england should be asked for advice. My wife is on first name terms with most of them, she speaks to them so often. They go away for half an hour and ring back with instructions. Simple.

Here's a thought. Now a vaccine rollout is imminent, shut the uni,s and schools until we've all been jabbed.
