On the 5th March 2020  2 people died of Covid 19 in the UK

take that as an example of 2 pennies !

we are 18 months on now , how many pennies  or dead people as it's not a trivial game we are playing 

and regardless of how many people actually died of Covid 19 , the hospitals where over full with Covid patients so many other people died because they couldn't get hospital treatment .

we don't know what will happen in another 18 months time do we ?

a new variant could wipe out most of humanity , or vaccines could effect fertility, Covid may be completely gone , etc etc ,

who knows ? answer = no one 

had more people taken Covid seriously ,we wouldn't be in the mess we are in

In the great scheme of things there isn't.

Between 1348 and 1350 the black death killed rough 3 million in England alone, when the population was about 6 million......so roughly 5O%

What has changed over the centuries is that people have become more sensitised to risk and mortality

That's 99.4% of cases that aren't critical.

If we spent less time panicking about TCV, then perhaps we could get back to actually looking after the people who have been sidelined by the madness.

It's a load of crap, Opti. Although it's almost impossible to put a figure on the amount of lives saved by various governments actions, just a few thousand would be enough for me to say they were right.
But, in this world where people have nothing better to do than bleat about their rights, mental health, inconvenience, etc, I suppose it looks clever.
It seems to me you have to lose a couple of family members before it sinks in that people actually matter.
