Do you get the feeling that someone wants ferrari rather than mcclaren to win the title again? :-/

Nowadays F1 does not like battling, adventerous, risky and exciting drivers, as like the rest of life it is being nicely packaged and cocooned in H&S / political correctness to make it a safe sport!

That is why watching 2008 F1 cars, and drivers, is so boring compared to 1968!

Wouldn't have said the last few laps today were boring - quite the opposite!  Hamilton put on quite a driving display in those conditions.

If you want to see what it was once like watch the 1968 movie "Grand Prix"  It was pretty close to presenting it as it really was.

Used to race myself in the 60s - used to go to a lot of GPs as well then as well as Le Mans most years, so plenty of hands on experience of racing in that era!  F1 is different now because cars have become a lot more technically advanced since then as well as safer - circuits have also improved safety wise - and this limits overtaking opportunities.

I remember well being tipped over on the short circuit chicane at Mallory years ago by Roger Williamson in his Holbay Anglia.  He died later at Nurbughring - burnt to death - this probably wouldn't have happened in todays racing.  Surely safety is important in any sport including F1.
Or do a lot of people still go to see a serious accident?

I agree entirely Dbug that H&S is very important, but if they make F1 any safer, removing any dangers and making it even more sterile than it is, then we all might as well go and sit next to the M1 to get our thrills.

No we don't want to witness drivers dying as they once did, but if they take any more of the thrills and excitment out of this sport then why bother to watch it especially when a driver uses all his skills to win but has some crass official deem otherwise after the event?  

As for not needing to watch a film to appreciate what it was like, I am pleased you are like me and obviously of enough mature years to remember it first hand.  However there are no doubt many oof members who are not yet forty years of age so would not be able to remember those days.

Like our world generally there needs to be change in F1 if the crowds / audencies are to return and it is not to disappear as a completely irrelevant, boring, totally commercially driven and highly expensive "sport".

Having just got back fome Spa this morning, I am really quite disappointed with this decision. It was my first time actually at a Grand Prix and possibly the best racing I have seen for many years in F1 - the atmosphere was absolutley electric at Pouhon when Lewis and Kimi were battling it out...

Then the FIA stewards flag up an unfair advantage, not Ferrari, but the FIA. For me it took the edge off a fantastic weekend of motorsport.

At least the media is calling it worse for F1 than for Hamilton.  I say we all go to Monza and just constantly hurl junk onto the track.  SPa was as much of a farce as the US grand prix with 6 cars in it.

I am massively dissapointed that Lewis was demoted - however he is still leading and the McLaren was the better car on the day - so no worries there.

The FIA's intentions are more worrying though - I really don't want it to put me off going again.

Think about it, no real penalty for Ferrari in Monaco or Valencia, massive penalties for McLaren 3 times this year for similar incidents!  This is not a sport, it's an elitist bunch of tosspots.

Agreed, however he has been a very busy man keping the FIA on his side - he doesn't like McLaren and does have quite a bit of control when needs be... It is easy to see how people reach the conclusion of conspiracy.

Well said. I have never believed that he was as good as they say.
I think he was a cheat and a dangerous driver who should have been kicked out of the sport onmany occasions.
