Presumably wheels are same size all round, so a simple back to front swap will confirm if its tyres (I know how you like your cheap as chips, black and round tyres).

Done that.  :y  See OP!  :D

Oh and the tyres might be cheap, black and round (Runway Performance 926), but they appear to be OK.  :y

Ah, my bad, I misread in that you'd swapped the rears with each other, but still heard noise from back ;D

Can't be much else really, either brake (road or handbrake) is/was binding, or the bearing is noisy (possibly due to a brake binding), or there is sufficient play for the wheel/disc to rub.

Either way, need to jack it up, and have a fondle :y

If one of the rear tyres was out of round, or misshapen in some other way, changing around the rears wouldn't make any difference. You need to fart around much more than that  ;D

Edit: sorry I guess you meant you did front to rear. My bad  :P

Nah, its much better to stick a post on a forum full of moaning old codgers, asking them to guess the source of a noise they cannot hear on a car they've never seen.  :y

If the repair plus labour is worth more than the value of the car (In your case, say, £300) I know of a very good astra derv auto that you can buy at a very reasonable price.
Of course, 'reasonable' might be subjective.  ;D

There is more general car knowledge on here than you will find in most garages, modern mechanics are rather hopeless
