I don't buy crap, I buy decent stuff. Cheaper than at high street retailers, without the waiting and planet killing driving.
I don't find Amazon particularly cheap a lot of them time.  And for non Prime customer, there is the added postage tax.  But if they are cost effective for something I want, I have no issues at all buying from them.

Far more wary of buying from Amazon Marketplace sellers, even if dispatched by Amazon.  Thats a bit like buying from egay.

I pay for prime and, as Barnsley is not a black hole, my stuff always comes next day. I recently bought an Apple Watch for SWMBO at £50 cheaper than anywhere else I could find, that's just one example. But, even if I pay the same as high street prices, I still don't have to get off my fat arse.  ;D

We've used it a few times got some very good buys over the years always the same guy delivering no issues whatsoever can't really see what the issue is with some folk , as Steve says saves driving into town & parking & wandering about they're a business and expect to make a profit that's what it's all about the lockdown definitely worked in their favour.

Most of what they sell on there seems to originate from China, so we are giving China the money to rule the world.
Having said that its probably not that different in many shops, so it isnt easy to avoid Chinese tat.
I do try though.

Most of the shitty tat originates in China, but people only buy that because it's top of the page and cheap. If you can be bothered to look for branded goods, they are there. But this was Gollums point, most people want to buy the shite, because it's cheap.

I won't have an Amazon or Facebook account as long as I have a hole in my arse.

Not adverse to buying online, just prefer to avoid Amazon as I have an aversion to companies whose business motto is to be the ONLY supplier of what they do. DHL also falls into that category.

Your principles won't make a jot of difference to their bottom line, but could inconvenience you. That's why I adopt the CBA attitude.

It doesn't inconvenience me. Because I don't use them.

For all their claims of being essential and providing opportunities across the globe, these companies would use drones and robots in a heartbeat. Just to make money. And I don't mean reasonable profit, or even satisfying shareholders, but they want to own the population and fundamentally control them. They already suggest what you watch and buy, next they will tell you by way of product substitution, a per your contract with them. Then they will control what you buy, how much and when. And if you think that is melodramatic, ask yourself why Jeff Bezos et al own so much agricultural land.

It’s basically a social engineering project that you didn't even realise you were a part of, and your subscription funds it.

Unfortunately, I think it is beyond stopping, but I will not be a part of it.

You'll probably find the branded stuff is also made in Ching Chong Rhineland as well.  Well, was before their manufacturing centre locked down last month.

Yes, of course, but you'll get that whether you shop on Amazon or the high street. They make everything and, despite Albs' protestations, you won't avoid buying Chinese by shopping around.

I don't, so to get "free" delivery, I either have to bump the order up to £20 (which I won't) or many of their items they will deliver free to a drop off point...   ...which means I still have to get off my arse and walk/drive into town ;D

I too bought a crApple product from Amshambles this week, because it was about £60 cheaper than I could get it with access to the crApple's employee store...
