Too many sub contractors doing work for Openreach at the moment. Lots of shiny new vans with different company names appearing every couple of months.
It's also Pikey season :-X

Ebay sellers.

Ordered something early Wednesday, with promised delivery Thursday.  Ebay's system was updated with the postage label being printed yesterday, Friday, and RM confirming they have received the item this morning and will be sent with their Track 48 service.

I raised an eBay case early this morning, saying I needed a refund due to it being late, which the seller responded to immediately claiming it had been sent already and please be patient.  45m later, RM's tracking shows they received the package.

Usual excuse of being away, blah blah.  Don't offer a premium delivery service if you are too idle to get of your fat, lazy arse.

Needed for weekend, so how to drive to nearby town this morning to get something similar, and will now have the hassle and cost of returning the item back to the eBay self-abuser.

More temporary traffic lights on the B4011 Long Crendon. In fairness, they very nearly made it to 2 weeks without temporary traffic lights this time, but alas they have returned.  ::)  Over the past few years, the Utility companies  have taken turns to dig up this road on an almost every other week basis. Back in January they closed the road to resurface it and put in new plastic traffic calming humps. Two weeks later, Thames Water promptly dug it up again to lay new pipes. Do these people not talk to each other.  ::)  This same section of road now features as one of the most dug up roads in the UK.  :o

The local council putting traffic lights up on a not particularly busy T Junction, which didn't actually need any work.  If they really must blow a load of money before the financial year is up, a roundabout would have been better. Or spend it fixing the roads.

We need to get out of this constant regime to put traffic lights everywhere.

They put traffic lights up at the end of our road when Shitty Fibre were repairing the crap job that their contractors made of it initially. As there were always residents cars parked there most of the time, the 3 way lights made it a damn sight worse.  ::)

I can kinda understand using traffic lights for roadworks.  I should do, I have a C&G in traffic flow management, which included setting up traffic lights, timings and sequencing.

Obviously, the fact they had to rework the poor reinstatement is inexcusable.  Added to the hassle that the lights will be one set of subbies, the hole digging another, and the actual work being done to the fibres being another, thats just an obvious disaster waiting to happen...   ...but new suits can't be told ;)

HS oppsing 2 extending the 4 year restrictions on the A43 for another year.  This is to build a single bridge.  5 oppsing years.  All funded by the taxpayer, for something nobody wants or needs, dragged out for as long as possible because as soon as they do finish it, it will become obvious to all it has to close (or radically change into yet another commuter line, which isn't needed)

At least these days, in my experience anyway, the traffic management van always stays at the roadworks with the lights, so they're usually working fine.
In years gone by, they would set them up and piss off. If the lights stopped working correctly, the workers on site would just say it was nothing to do with them, and someone was 'on the way'. I also noticed that, if possible, they are taken away late afternoon and put back in the morning.
No doubt others will have a very different experience.
