LAX's new car rental centre.
Until recently, all the big car rental co's (Hertz, Avis, Alamo etc) had their own off-airport rental centres. You just got the bus from outside the terminal to your chosen provider. Now, LAX have rationalised everything, and built a brand new multi-story rental centre. You still need to get the bus to it, but being 'new' means it should be easy - right - nope,

For whatever reason, the busses drop you off on level 0. There is nothing there - you then have to get escalators/lifts up to level 5 where all the rental desks are. Not easy when you're dragging 5 tons of hold and cabin baggage. Thankfully at 5am there isn't much of a queue, but having been told your car parking place, it's back down the lifts/escalators to the relevant floor- again dragging 5 tons of stuff.

Then drive back down to level 0 and exit the building. Are there any signposts - are there bu99ery. By the time you've got your bearings you're headed the wrong way up the freeway.

Useless, absolutley effin useless. Who do they get to design these places?

Post grad interns probably. >:D

Heading there next month, so might give it a whirl if we're still up at Marina Del Rey as I don't think there's a convenient Avis office near by... ;)

Took the recently acquired Volvo S80 to the main dealer in Doncaster to have an outstanding recall sorted. Coming home decided to run the A18 rather than motorway for a change. Entered a 40 mph limit and then got stuck behind a Skoda Yeti doing 25(until it came to the slightest of bends when they slowed to 20 !! They eventually peeled off to a supermarket so better progress could be made at least for a mile or so when as the limit changed up to 50mph I caught up to a VW Passat estate who proceeded to travel at 30!! Overtaking not possible in either case due to limited forward visibility(making it a dodgy proposition) and in plces hash markings down the centre of the road.

Sounds just like my journey to and from work on any given day.
No-one has a clue how to drive anymore.  :(

Got to agree with you on that, people just seem to drive headlong into situations that should be avoided if only practicing proper roadcraft, what with that & driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs our roads are now extremely dangerous.
