if you got the money for a new boiler - get yourself a condensing vaillant combi - you will get a nice treat from now on!

Yes for a quarter......

What is £150/m gas or leccy?

Guess you mean Gas?

I dont have double glazing but do have cavity wall insulation and about 6" of rockwall insulation up in the loft......but then its been 'summer' so havent needed the central heating on for months  :y

My gas bill usually goes upto about £130-£150 during the winter months........but the boiler is about 20years old  ;D

We're in the midst of ripping out our gas fire in our main living area and going for a solid fuel option, smokeless is £16 a bag at the moment, logs are free or very cheap at the least, we plan to run our combi very low, then on cold evenings, light the fire :) with smokeless of course :y  When it gets dark, who knows what will burn :-X

I have an flueless gas stove type fire in the living room.......its suppose to be 99.something% efficient.......some peeps dont like them as it vents all its gases into the living room......but it has a catalytic converter in it and hasnt gassed me to death yet  ::) ;D

TBH i would have an open fire too.......but at some point some numpty ripped out all the chimney breasts in my house  >:(
