No denying we are all half way there, and not much can be done about it.
Its the final part which gives those in positions of power the potential for close to total control of our lives and removal of almost all personal freedom that is the really terrifying thing.
It sounds like tinfoil hat stuff, but when you read about serious proposals from very influential people asking for  " every citizen in the world to have digital ID", it seems like its becoming real.

A large rump of the Labour party see no problem with a Chinese style social credit system being implemented in the UK. :-\

Closing down the bank accounts of people who say hurty words about comrade Starmer would be considered acceptable.

I'm really hoping this gets kicked out on it's arse before it gains more traction.

I guess the difference is whether the data is in the hands of incompetent governments or incompetent mega corps...

The data would end up in the hands of everyone, including China, Russia and the US.

I think the thing is that this would bring all of our data together in one place, all ready to be stolen or sold to the highest bidder.  ::)

And held by the government who we know don't have the best interests of the British people at the core of things and who have a track record of losing, leaking and having data nicked!  :-X
