I firmly believe that most things that are already taxable shouldnt be, and people should be allowed to decide what to do with their own money.
That's the proper, conservative view that most of us on here hold. The only thing that makes people disagree is envy because they're not getting it.
If the government employed people who could do basic maths, then taxation would be alot lower, but that's a separate issue.
Charging at work makes some sort of sense of there's space for everyone to park and every space has a charger. Otherwise it becomes either an individual benefit or productivity drops because everyone is constantly having to mess around swapping cars around waiting for the charger to be available. Not to mention that the company is subsidising your fuel, at which point it becomes a benefit.
For most of my time at various jobs at Gatwick parking was in one of a handful of car parks. Some companies picked up the bill and swallowed it, some passed the whole cost to the staff and some cut it 50/50. If I had to pay, it was taken from my net as a deduction. The lowest I paid was zero, the most was £80 pm.
BA provide free parking for everyone on duty, and very restricted holiday parking that isn't particularly convenient to use.
Albs situation is probably fairly unique because I doubt there is a queue of people waiting to get to the charger.
