Changing back to standard suspension.
« on: Yesterday at 08:44:24 »

I've made the decision to take my three cars back from the lowered set up, back to standard, and basically this has come about by the shite standard of the roads making every journey a tooth rattler. So the problem is trying to get  the correct shocks/springs, as when trying to get them ordered, I'm getting ''this item doesn't fit'' for the 2000 3.0 ex cop car, which although was registered as an MV6 doesn't bear any interior trim parts to denote that. And for some reason I was thinking that the 3.0 and the 3.2 suspension parts would be the same and ordering three sets would have been easy. So question is...are there differences between the two models, or is it that the sellers are relying just on the ebay guides? thanks for any help and advice :y

At this point in time, the shocks will either be Standard or LSC. Wishbones and track rods are identical across the board.

The following list is an indication of actual OEM rather than GM branded or whatever the interwebs says will fit. The exception will be the springs.

That should give you all the parts numbers.

Obviously other people will have their own ideas but that's about as close to factory as you're going to get :y

Cheers Al,
strangely..it's ATP that are confusing me, by saying in one instance that that their own range of shocks/springs are all compatible across the range, and when cross checked, they say not! Also adding the cost of two wishbone rods and drop kits,  one car has just been done, so that one will just need shocks and springs. So my thinking in that case I would buy their finest Chinese cheese range to keep the cost down, bearing in mind that my annual mileage is sub 1500 miles a year so that should see me out for the next three years. Certainly will look at those part references, and work something out. :y

Front shocks are, or should be, the same across the board with 2 choices... Sport or standard.

Front springs are engine dependant AND sport/standard.

Rear springs and shocks are body style dependent AND sport/standard.

Thinking about returns  ::)  in the eventuality of a wrong part, maybe a UK supplier would be a option, as I am going cheap as possible,as I'm still smarting from the amount of money that was thrown at all three cars in 2025....should have kept the VXR8 and thrown these money pits away ;)     Will pm you, but the site is playing silly buggers atm.

Do you  still have the plod springs that would have been on the car originally ?
If so I would refit those, as I dont think you can get much better than them for an Omega.
A much better balance between ride / comfort / handling than anything else Ive experienced, and standard ride height..
I have them on the front of mine, and would love to have a pair to fit on the rear.

Budget friendly would be just the springs and rear shocks.

Trouble is, with the fronts, you need to strip them to swap the springs, so may as well replace the struts. The labour is the same and you need the silly things like the spring seats from the old shocks.

I can't recall if you gave me your old springs or not, but they're long gone if you did.

Depends on your budget,, Bilstien B8 are relatively cheap, or just buy the cheapest available online, as for springs, 2.6/2.5/3.0/3.2 saloon for non LSC without air are all the same, just get HD,, Police spec springs are very rare to find nowadays.

The Kilen HD are a good alternative, but rear only :y
