Iran war day 74
« on: 12 May 2026, 17:59:50 »

What now Trump?

Cost so far ( to USA)  29 billion dollars. Economies of Europe all seeing inflation. Thanks for that.

The only winners so far are Russia - price of oil up and of course the puppet masters extraordinaire - Israel. They are still bombing the hell out of Lebanon.

Maybe Trump will ask Xi to help? He doesn’t seem to have any other cards.

What was the alternative?  Negotiations have failed miserably for the last 48yrs.

I think the American naval blockade is probably a lot more effective than the media are telling us. Don't forget the media have a visceral hatred for Trump.  :-X

Iran apparently has limited storage for it's crude oil and in normal times it is pumped straight to the terminal at the coast, onto a tanker and away down the Straights of Hormuz and beyond.

Apparently for whatever reason, you have to keep the oil flowing and can't just turn the tap off at the well. If they shut the well down it can't be turned back on.  :-\

Lets see who blinks first, it's quite possible that the Americans can sit it out for longer than the Ayatollahs can.  ::)

Meanwhile the Ayatollahs are keeping themselves busy by hanging loads of mostly young people who were arrested during the January street protests. I've read that most of them have been tortured to extract a 'confession'.  Not a peep about it from the Western media though....  :-X  ::)

If the upshot of all this is the removal of the Islamic Regime and their IRGC thugs then that will be good for Iran, good for the Middle East and good for the rest of the world.  :y  And if that is the end result I think that that is worth the extra cost of filling my tank.  ::)

There is zero chance of that happening. If anything, the regime will emerge stronger from this, not weaker. You cannot bomb (from the air) a country into regime change. It needs a credible threat of troops on the ground, and even Trump isn't daft enough to contemplate that.

The Ayatollahs know that if they can prolong the current state of affairs till November (US mid-term elections) then Trump will become a lame duck president. The gulf states - UAE & Saudi in particular - are getting pretty antsy with the US, and without their airspace and bases there isn't a lot the US can do in the region.

Trump has painted himself into a corner and I haven't seen a credible idea on how he can extract himself from the fustercluck he (and Netanyahu) have created.

It isn’t just the cost of filling your tank!

I think Xi is his best hope and Xi will already know that. AI chips anyone?

I would like to disagree, but unfortunately I cant.
