I'm curious as to what MB would have done had I taken the car to them for its 'software update' .... would that have high lighted the current re-map?
Yes, as soon as the diagnostic equipment is plugged in it will definitely raise a flag. The ECU logs the number of times it has been flashed or updated. If your car has a mismatched update count compared to factory records, it raises a flag. I was told that if mine was remapped, not to take it in to an Audi main dealer workshop, as they would automatically plug it in for a software check/update, which could then potentially un-remap my car.

In Audi’s case, they will also raise a TD1 flag, which goes on the vehicle’s history log and can’t be removed, even if the vehicle is flashed back to factory spec.
