Is the AR 25/35 adaptive?

ie does it adjust the shift points according to driving style?

Another consideration for a pre facelift car is that it has  mechanical throttle control. Is it beyond the realm of possibility that it's out of adjustment... :-\
All Omega TCM's are adaptive, but this is a first change only, so not the adaptions.  They do hang onto 1st gear a bit, but this sounds excessive.

Can't see how the throttle (or ICV) would make a difference TBH.
Might it be lifting the cold start idle speed? Possibly by way of an air leak or defective sensor? Obviously I haven't ever owned the suboptimal earlier cars, so never got that involved, although I have worked on a few...
Can't see how that would cause the symptoms the OP has with initial gear change....   ....I'm sure it it was idling at 3000rpm, the OP would have said.

Indeed, the cold start rpm is around 1500 when under 5°C, and around 1100 these days. After a few seconds it settles to 500rmp and there is no air leak in the intake.

Another point is, if I go from D to 3 or 2, of course there is no change. This could confirm it's level related ?
