it was converted by Coway when new, from a 2.6 CD spec saloon. VXL V6 will kindly sort me out with the parts I need to make it Elite spec. This is the first Omega I've driven with Halogen lights!

Upgrade to Xenon and headlight washers, rear view dimming mirror, late Elite wheels and boot spoiler, and park pilot.

Two questions which I will post in the correct section  it's been such a long time I can't remember how easy it would be to ditch the CDR 2005 and upgrade to NCDC and GID / CID and the 179bhp is fine in a standard saloon, but I seem to remember you can use different cams in the 2.6 for more power? An extra 10bhp would help.

If anyone wants to live out the dream in 8 seat comfort, you're welcome to stop by for a go in it!

3.0 cams, plus lower manifold divider (I seem to recall the inlet is the same, but could be wrong) for more go (flowing the inlet ports on the heads is advised but, not easy when in the car)

I did the 3.0 G Cams upgrade on my old 2.6, didn't do any inlet port flowing though. Got to be honest it didn't seem that much of an improvement, makes all the right noises but it's nowhere near the torque of the 3.2.

Would the 3.2 ECU, TB and injectors make any difference if an engine rebuild is a touch excessive

Thank you for your reply all, by all accounts then I may not bother - it's got enough power to join motorways etc anyway. It's even less rewarding to drive fast through corners so might be a pointless exercise. I'm not sure the extra 32/33bhp of the 3.2 is worth changing the engine for.

Cam swaps alone are less of a big deal as you could readily swap.them.within the labour of a Cambelt change and can cover reseal...

Obviously that raises the prospect of a couple of preemptive "while you're in theres", namely the HBV and thermostat.

TBH, you can't put a shine on the turd that is the 2.6, short of replacing it.  Easiest drop in is the 3.2 obviously, but is awful on fuel.

VXL *may* have my old adapter loom to convert a 2005/2006/MID to NCDC/GID/CID that I made for one of my Elites - might have been that crock Goldie (a 2.5 - inherently better than the 2.6 - with 3l cams and Superchips, and was still as flat as a witches tit.  But it gave tunny years of amusement after I broke it and needed a tow from his beloved 2.2

I think leaving the 2.6 as is, will be what I do. With 69k miles, a good history and running well / no lifter noise etc it's doing well.

Noted re: NCDC, I couldn't remember what wiring was needed, thank you for confirming.

TB - assuming you mean throttle body.....isn't the 2.6 is exactly the same as the 3.2?

Yes it is.

Injectors won't make any difference.

Only cost effective upgrade is G cams and match the inlet to the head with some reprofiling and better exhaust manifolds. Ultimately far better just to put a 3.2 in in my opinion.

I'm fairly sure that tunny only ever towed Goldie of mine, so must have been that.  The Silver Bullet - R404 - towed a couple of bunnies projects for various reasons, but not his 2.2 IIRC.

The Silver Bullet was towed by DLK from Alton to Nottingham, and also had a trip on a low loader from Dijon to here.  Other than that, I don't think it was ever towed.

Let's not talk about how many times TBE was towed then either  that lifetime warranty wasn't much good was it?!

Despite coming from a dodgy used car seller, I don't recall TBE ever being towed either

Maybe I have rose tinted glasses on, but ignoring Project Tractor, all my Omegas were pretty good

100% agree, the only time i needed recovery with my Goldie was my own stupid fault.
