Agree with you 100% Lizzie. I also go for diabetic eye screening every year. Full two-bob tests. But the lass at SpecSavers insisted I go for yet another test - because she couldn’t get the pressure test gadget to give a ‘satisfactory’ result.
Guess what - the professional guy says ‘no problem here’ see you in a couple of years!!
I’ve even been to the local QMC and taken part in two extra trials - still no problem.
Apologies if I come across as a bit narked about this but I wonder if SS just want to sell more specs, as a buy one get 17 free???
Grrrr …
In 2016 I had am eyesight test at Asda Opticians, and ended up with a pair of reading glasses. For convenience sake, a couple of years later I went to SpecSavers, and ended up with a new pair of a different prescription. I went to SpecSavers religiously every couple of years since, and everytime my prescription changed which cost me for a new pair of reading glasses. As I am a bit rough with my glasses especially when working on cars, the lenses used to fall our, the nose pads used to fall off, and the quality was sh##e. This year, I decided to go back to Asda Opticians, only to be told, 'Good news - your prescriptions hasn't changed since we last saw you in 2016' - no new glasses needed unless they are damaged etc'.
How come my prescription changed every year at SpecSavers, other than a money making exercise?. Thieving baskets.... Won't be going back to SpecSavers again....
I have used Specsavers for years, and in my opinion they have given me great service. I have a yearly test, and some years I have not needed an upgrade for my reading glasses, then another year not for my distance glasses. Just had a new test, and after
4 years of "no real change" to my distance vision, the optician stated I needed a new set as my vision had changed, which I knew as recently I couldn't see number plates so clearly over 20 metres away. I have to say that I have always agreed with the Specsavers opticians findings as they have reflected what I have noticed myself with my vision. The NHS eye in depth health check has also backed up what SS have found.
Obviously jonnydog what is your experience, is your experience, good or bad. All I will say is that maybe Specsavers have been right, and Asda are wrong, in their assessments. Afterall, certainly with Specsavers, they use the most modern equipment to assess your true eyesight, and any replacement glasses will soon let you know if that assessment is right or wrong. I must also add that Trustpilot reviews give a 4.5 rating over
185.545 reviews, that being over 29,399 over the last 12 months. Asda Opticians only have a 3.3 rating over just
896, or 146 over the last 12 months!! In fact some of those reviews are awful, especially on their Customer Service, so if I was you do not be so certain that Specsavers arrived at the wrong conclusion with you, and Asda have it right!
