I used to get 10yrs + out of a car battery when you could top them up with distilled water.

These AGM'S only last about 5yrs till the warranty expires.

I should imagine you switch off stop/start when you get into the car, as I do. Imagine how long it would last if you didn't, and the engine was stopping at every junction. It can't do the starter motor much good, either.
The AGM on my grandland is five years old and, on the odd occasion that I forget to switch stop/start off, it works perfectly. I think the battery has to be in good condition for this to happen, so I'm guessing mine is fine.

I get about 4 and a half out of my batteries. Ruddy stop start facility. I wonder if the whizz kid that invented it also gave themselves an award?

No stop start on the Astra.

I believe batteries have to be at something like 75% charged for stop/start to work 🤷‍♂️

i am having the same issues too althou im still talking about omegas and the like ..
i remember when you could buy a good quality battery and foget about it for years. now even the good brands only last around 5 or so years .my current omega one is a yuasa ybx3100 bought new in 2022 and its down to 250 cca now from originally 680 cca. if id done my homework better id have  got a ybx7100 instead and will probably do so when this needs changing in a year or two . but the observation is like everything nowadays .nothing is built to last .
now you probably wont beleive me but my friend is still using a "no name unbranded" battery that was bought in the late 90's which is STILL WORKING !

I've only ever had to replace one battery, on a ten year old Astra with 100,000+ miles.

They have higher demands with all the electrical shite on cars.  Also, are you using the car less, as not using it for a few days will have a small impact each time on battery capacity.

First thing I do after starting, switch off stop start. I reckon they are dangerous. You are on a junction with heavy traffic, at last a gap appears, you hit the throttle.....and it sits there starting up, then you move and it is too late.... worse thing they put on a car

the 2 batteries on my 14 plate ML are the original batteries ..... 

my stop/start doesn't work either ..... maybe the batteries need replacing!
