anyway ... the video doesn't exactly put Audis in a favourable light.
Cam chains at the back of an engine are not in a particularly accessible place in the first place ………

Total bill of £13k with £10k being on parts  :o

To change all four chains and guides on an Audi 3.0 TDI is a very labour intensive job due to access. Assuming that nothing else is wrong with the engine, you are looking at £4K to change just the chains and guides at a main dealer or £3K-£3.5K at an Indy.
If you lower the gearbox alone to do the job, access is still shite so they unbolt the engine and gearbox complete, which involves unbolting the suspension struts and everything else to drop the whole front end through. The car body is then raised while the engine, gearbox and all suspension is supported on a lift trolley.
As you say, not an ideal place to put the chains, but BMW did the same with the N47 2.0 diesel engine.  :-\

……..
Charles Trent offered £1250 whether it ran or not. :o

I bet they did, they’d get their money back on the headlights alone.  ;D :y

Blimey I should count my blessings then.
My ‘comparatively small rebuild’ plus a few other bits cost me £1750. £1400 in parts, £350 in tools.

Plus knuckles, skin, blood, and 100-quids worth of wine for a very helpful neighbour.

Oh, and extra for hiring an E200 AMG to avoid losing our holiday. Didn’t intend to - the smaller car I ordered wasn’t available. Apologies for corrupting the Omega forum with MB.  ;D
It's been happening for years.  ;D
