It certainly tells you something when the biggest selling car this year is a Jaecoo, but it's what the younger generation seem to be drawn to,  personally I wouldn't have one for free I'll be looking springtime for a new tow vehicle but I'll probably go for another old L320/322 Range Rover V8 of course..👍

………
I'm old and remember when some cars had real style, not these ugly EVs that they're trying to convince us that they are the way forward, ……..

We live in a strange world.  :)  We quite rightly ban the use of hand held gadgets to avoid driver distraction, but then proceed to produce vehicles with purely touchscreen menus in the centre of the vehicle.  ::)
We invent vehicles with sub 3 second 0-60mph performance and gloat about it, but then proceed to reduce every speed limit in the land.  ::)

The motorways of the UK were unrestricted until 1967. Magazines such as Autocar and Motor would test the top speed of the latest E-Type or Ferrari at 3 AM perfectly legally. >:D
No chance nowadays... Down to 1 or 2 lanes and 50 mph limit over night :-X

Motorways in Great Britain were unrestricted until 1967.
Restrictions didnt appear in Norn Irn until 1972 iirc. Brought in because of the fuel crisis and then made permanent after that.
Maybe they knew I would be hitting the roads in a couple of years time.  ;D

I think JLR sacked the advertising agency that came up with the LGBQWERTY ad. But ultimately, somebody in JLR still gave it the go ahead.

As ZY says, I think it's backfired, because its alienated a lot of life long Jaguar buyers, made worse by the head honcho at the time saying something along the lines of those loyal customers are not the sort of buyers we want.  Thats classic how to ruin a business territory, and I'm sure will be taught in Business Management classes, like Ratner is (despite his comments being taken well out of context)

...zackly. It was a complete clusterf*uck.

I mean, how many of these oddball trans/non-binary people were going to buy a Jag in the first place. Vitually zero I would think.

Most of them probably live in 'ultra woke' Brighton with they/them pronouns in their bio.......The British version of San Francisco. :)

Personally I think that Jaguar lost its way after the XJ6 , all versions were really good looking cars usually purchased but the " better off " types , then came Jaguar estate cars & then the diesel versions and they became too common, nothing special about seeing one now, I remember when I was a kid it was our day to go to the swimming pool from our school, we were all walking 2x2  and a baby blue Jaguar Mk 10 cruised on by and nearly all the lads gasped at the sight of it even our teacher Mr Crosby exclaimed " That's the new Jag ! " My first boss had a Mk 10 Jag & I remember travelling in it to one of his  warehouses, like floating on air, just the ramblings of someone who remembers what Jags used to be..👍

....according to AI the MK10 was introduced in October 1961 before becoming the 420G in 1966.

A big car even by the standards of today, so must have looked huge in the early sixties. :y ::)

I quite like the "01" in profile however the front and rear views need more(better)style. The interior screen thing looks more like an after thoight rather than an integrated part of the car. Not sure why it needed such a huge central tunnel. The new badging on the front and rear would definitely have to go/be covered by something else.

Those from the motoring world lucky enough to have been granted test drives, note that drivers of average height can’t see the centrally mounted rear view screen without rising up on the seat or leaning around the main display, as the view is partially blocked by the main dash screen, so that’s not ideal is it,  :-\  At least it has proper door mirrors, and not those silly camera and screen things.  :y

I wonder how many owners will remove the crap woke jAgUaR badge and replace it with a proper leaping cat badge?  ???

Well, not many.....  But quite few might get someone else to do it for them.  ;D

I was never much of a fan of the old rotbox designs, but do like the all aluminium design, and the slightly coupe styling of the last of the saloon models, particularly the XE and XF.

I still think the arse of my XJ is pig ugly though, it has not grown on me at all.  I remember when Dbug got rid of this Omega and got an X351 XJ and posted the pictures, I said to him I could never own anything that ugly....    ...but the rest of the car grew on me quickly, and I got one myself.

I guess if we all liked the same thing, we'd be driving around in Marinas, like Sir Tim ;D

I think that the new Jag's designers must have been inspired by the desirable Morris Marina 1800TC Coupe!  :y

And I've had this niggling feeling that something was missing off of the Jag and it's just come to me!  :)

Aside from the fantasy market placing, the actual car is a curious mix of really boring and really stupid/ugly features.
