I'm fascinated by the physics of flying, and happy enough to watch planes take off and land for an hour or so.

But I don't like flying. Its not an anxiety thing, it's just the whole experience from arriving at an airport carpark to leaving the destination airport. Detest it.  And because I'm usually only going to euroland in scum class, mixing with the great unwashed...   ...or being sat on by a fat slag in the case of Jet2.

That said, due to the on Monday night, our first attempt at landing was particularly interesting, when you are sitting in an aisle seat looking out of the window when around 50-100'  off the ground and seeing the length of the runway ;D.  The second attempt was almost as bad but he got it down that time.

Trains and buses are every bit as bad though.  Both usually fully furnished with idiots with their jeans looking like they have shit themselves - or as Rangie would know, letting anyone know they are willing to receive one up the jacksie - and playing rap bongo shite on their phone's loudspeaker.

Sadly, Chiltern have removed all the hopper style windows from their trains now, as have the local bus company, so my old trick of chucking their phones out the window is no longer an option.

I miss my student days, Business Class to New York for £100 return. Those were the days, really wish my Uncle was still at United.

The additional upside was you did not have to arrive 3hrs before, only left the house about 2.5hrs before the plane left.

I thought the playing of loud music, with or without headphones on portable devices in public transport was outlawed years ago. I know it carries a fine, a larger fine on a train than a bus, but I guess that by the time it’s been reported, the offending person has got off.  :-\  Mind you, in today’s climate with thug mentality, it’s a massive risk challenging anybody now.

Detest airports being herded around like sheep, don't mind the flight but the landing boils my piss when the idiots who must be first off bang your head & shoulders with their bags.

I also hate the whole experience. From leaving my house until a get back, its just hassle I neither want or need.
I thought I was at the point where I wouldnt need to do it anymore, and then swmbo goes and wins a fickin holiday in Portugal.
Got her to book it for September next year.
If Im lucky I might be dead by then, so wont have to go.  ;D

Taking off and landing never gets old.  8)

Been flying since I was about 18 months.

The airport experience is shit, but it helps if you fly from a proper airport. Gatwick or Southampton being two I would recommend. Any airport run by Mancchester Airport Group is best avoided. Likewise Luton. Even after 4.5 years, I still don't like Heathrow, but we do get free parking and dedicated security so can avoid most of the experience.

Had a couple of memorable highlights this week... Had the honour of bringing American Airlines oldest flight attendant back to Lundun from Athens tother night. She had done her last operating flight from Charlotte, NC to Athens, and was positioning back to Charlotte via Lundun. The aircraft they took to Athens did the last return of the season hence the detour back.

https://share.google/G6hIumk5OzVbJEFnB

Then coming back from Larnaca tother day got to sit in the flight deck for take off and landing, stunning views of a thunderstorm over the mountains leaving and a gorgeous sunset over Lundun.

I used to fly a lot in my younger days, but not so much now. Can't say I miss it.

Best flight(s) I enjoyed was two flying lessons in a Cessna of some sort, which were bought for me as a birthday present. Don't think we went above 3000 feet but it was great fun. :y

The old bill wouldnt care less, they are only interested in speed traps and phones whilst driving.  Other crimes like robbery or antisocial behaviour are too irrelevant to deal with....
