Rule is "the chain is as strong as its weakest part" (something similiar  ;D) whatever it is for those going after high spec pc components I strongly advice 15K RPM disks as the latency is half compared to 7200 disks..

Remember that any icon you click on your desktop is on your disk ;)
Disks are vitally important, and can easily destroy perfromance.  Take the OOF server for instance  :-X

Currently no problem with OOF server :y
I'm glad it is not apparently affecting End Users currently  :-[

Sounds like you are in Baby sitting mode.  :-[
Methinks a new disk controller will have to be bought very soon, but they are £400-£500  :'(

Nearly got a new base server a few weeks back, but they seem to have doubled in price  :'(

What happened with the disk controller, have reliability issues or performance ?
Performance. Crap Southbridge RAID.

Yep..replacement will be expensive :-/

however although I dont have any idea about the OOF internal database structure the high hit ratio sections like "CHAT" can be located on a seperate raid controller..As an idea.. if possible
