I make the point of driving more, pre children I used to give Sue a lift to work even though it made me slightly late.

Mmm? I wonder which bus or train I'd need to get me to work for 5:50 for an early shift? I get up at 4:30 as it is, it wouldn't be worth going to bed if I'd to get public transport to get there.  :-?

I live in the sticks. There is no public transport available for the times I travel! How can I use public transport?

Wonder if they tried to advertise it on TV and legislation regards the Government losing Millions in fuel charges stopped them. :-/

I had an excess of numpties today - including a Fiesta going my route to school who didn't go over 15mph. A nob who stopped so I couldn't exit a T junction, another who farted around at lights and the next roundabout, and the final was no more than 45 on a fast road with too much oncoming traffic.

Think it was forget how to drive day, I saw 3 accidents this morning on way to work!
For me to get to work other than use the car involves catching the bus and the train ,takes an extra hour each way and costs more. I had to travel this way whilst my licence was being looked after for 28 days, so theres no way I'd do it just to keep some grass munching tree hugging hippys happy!

Just looked at that site  ::) they seem to care about the climate and taking the heat off the planet, but dont seem to care how to promote it......... 1 adult and 3 kids on a bike  :exclamation very wise. What about - pedestrians, cyclists, and other people who do not drive cars free days ? 365 of em ! that would be better.

On our hols, we arrived in Naples when they were having one of these "save the universe - scrap your car" days.

Can't comment on whether ther was any reduction in the traffic - it was compete chaos, which I suspect to be the normal state of affairs anyway - but I've never seen so many policemen in all my life.

Probably for each citizen who left his car at home, there were two policemen, each arriving by car/bus/bike with the usual Italian enthusiasm for hand waving and shouting.  The CO2 from the shouting alone probably melted an ice cap.

Don't get me going about the scooters... :(
