Same climb with an Arrows V10 out back. Gearbox grenaded half way up, but it didn't seem to matter. :D

I believe he has a hand operated clutch for launching off the line. After then he doesn't touch it. Gear shifts are by a paddle on the steering wheel operating the gearbox and it's got a gizmo that cuts the ignition on upshifts and blips the throttle on downshifts so it will shift clutchlessly with no bother (it's a bike engine and gearbox, after all). I think there's a pneumatic clutch actuator that holds the clutch in when he has to shift down a load of gears in a hurry.

As I said, the car is a bit of a project. He used to race a Jedi and once he won the Scottish hillclimb championship in that he sold it and started putting this car together as a new challenge!
