I think most people get used to what's put in front of them to start with, so MS tends to be joe publics choice.

Thats more like it.

True to an extent, though if that were the case, older AOL users would be still with Netscape....   ...many were forced to IE, as IE is what web is currently designed for....

Ahhh netscape  >:(

I remember the days quite a few years ago when i used to design web pages......got em looking great in IE......then checked with netscape (as back then it was only IE and netscape about) and they looked pants.....had to go back and spend hours rejigging the code so IE and netscape looked the same  >:(

Can also remember in my support days that ex Unix users forced to use a pc running windows....used to install netscape on it as thats what they were used to on unix machines......was a bloody pain trying to support netscape on a pc......so much in fact that....that the IT dept made a decision....anyone using netscape on a pc and got problems.....they had the choice....live with it....or if we turned up netscape would be uninstalled and IE put back on the pc .

Have to say, tried IE7 for a week. Hated it!  Too many random crashes and pages failing to load.  >:(

Went back to 6 (which is no mean feat to remove all of IE7!) and all is good and stable once more. :)

Been using IE7 on this machine at work for about 8 months now I think in one of its beta forms or other, with each release it did become more stable. Now using the released version and seems to be very stable. Having said that I will probably find a new way to crash it now ;)

I still think they have released IE7 a bit early, though understand they needed to get it out before consumer launch of Vista next month.

I think forcing on users via Windows Update is a bit harsh as well....

Notice they are actively pushing Media Player 11 now via Windows Update - that will piss off the people with non legal copies of XP....

My idle fingers have just completed a reformat and reinstall of XP and all the updates etc.  Amongst this lot was IE7 and is now working, it appears, quite well.

One niggle is posting on here (and elsewhere).  When I hit the 'post' button, IE asks if I want to link this webpage to clipboard so that it can access it, or something similar.  I do not wish to, click accordingly, and away it goes.  But it asks again at each and every next post attempt.  If I agree to allow to link, it asks again next time anyway!

Any idea on turning this off?

Thanks Jaime.  Had a look at the settings tab and could find no trace of 'allow programmatic access to clipboard'.  Am I looking in the correct place - tools/internet options/advanced ?

Allow, if you disallow you won't be able to post!
