Mrs Optimists poor hearing
« on: 08 October 2008, 19:54:45 »

I have been a little concerned about Mrs Optimist hearing of late.

Sometimes, her hearing seems to be pin sharp, and yet on other occassions her hearing seems to be so poor that I fear she may be going completely deaf.

For example, I made a slight criticism of her cooking, as I was walking from one room to another. It was a very minor criticism made under my breath, but Mrs Optimist hearing seemed to be of an almost supernatural standard. :o :o

Funny thing is the other day I passed her on the stairs, looked directly at her and told her how attractive she looked, and yet on this occassion her hearing seemed to be somewhat impaired, to the extent that she seemed almost completely deaf.

This intermittent hearing problem, is somewhat worrying, have any other forum members got a wife with a similar affliction?  ;)

If so can it be cured?

AFAIK there is no known cure for this intermittent hearing, but there are several tests that can be done to check if there is any worsening of the affliction ......

At a suitably long range whisper "You can have £100 for a new dress" ... this will often prove the hearing to be functioning perfectly...

At close range state loudly "I'm off out for a night with the boys" .. this will no doubt show that the hearing has detiorated badly

TBH there's nothing wrong with the hearing... It's the bit between the ears which is faulty! :D :D :D I tell SWMBO this regularly and she agrees, although she does genuinely have a slight loss. She's in the right industry though, being an Audiologist :y :y

I must try this test...........I will probably have to substitute £1000 for £100 to make it work though. :D :D ;D :y
