decent lhd cars
« on: 16 December 2006, 20:55:48 »

Why is it I cannot find a decent lhd car? - Its all tounge and cheek at the moment, but browsing lhd (left hand drive) cars for my euro trip next summer.

came across this place, click saloons and look for the french laguna. (be aware their site is crap)

http://www.autoc.homestead.com

£2,850 for a '94 Laguna???

Anyone know of any good places that get lhd cars?

Yes, my wife's Previa, but it's not for sale...   ;D

You can try:

Transeuropean Cars
176, York Way, London, N1 0AZ
Tel: 020 7713 1777

They are very near my office in Kings Cross, I spoke to the proprietor a few years ago when I was considering renting office space, seemed a nice chap, and they specialise in LHD cars - in fact they only do LHD cars....

Consider a foot passenger across the ferry (luggage volume permitting) then simply purchase your LHD junker of choice with Euro AA equivelant at the nearest garage?

good idea that, although i might have import taxes?

Cheers for the ebay links guys, but all way out of my price range. I will have around £800 to spend max, no matter where i look it seams like an normal Omega is the way to go. You just can't beat them for value!!

How about this?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1990-BMW-318i-Touring-LHD-E30-Lovely-original_W0QQitemZ250060544473QQihZ015QQcategoryZ9837QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Potential couple of hundred quid but plus essential maints?

Then scrap it on the continent, come back as a foot passenger?

Or bring it back and sell to some other student that wants a 'Road Trip' car?

just my tuppence....    ;D

A more 'European' Peugeot/Citroen Renault car might be more advantages especially if you need to buy spares. When the exhaust went on my V6 in France the other year I got a quote from Feu Vert (similar to Halfords) of 700 Euros!!!  :o That was for a Bosal system too - I couldn't find an Opel dealer.

You have my interest fired up - you noticed?     ;D ;D ;D

I fancy this idea

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Citroen-2CV-AK-400-Van-Left-Hand-Drive-LHD-2-CV_W0QQitemZ330063555432QQihZ014QQcategoryZ18174QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Fil the car with plonk then drive home.

Then sell the car to Tunnie for more than I paid, cover the cost of the rouge, and enjoy the new year?  What a plan!!    ;)

I'd like a lhd car but decent ones seam hard to find, also my i know a lot about meggas now so if anything goes wrong with it, i should know how to fix it.

Had the idea of getting another project say oil cooler failed fix that up, use it for the euro trip and sell it for a profit when i come back  ;D

I could take booze orders on my way back  ;)
