V8-Northstar-Motor
« on: 20 December 2006, 11:17:11 »

While in a german web site basically for senators (http://www.senatorman.de) i came across this

And did an auto translate

"2001 should actually transfer a V8-Northstar-Motor with 5,7 litres capacity in the omega the point of motorizing. Unfortunately it showed up that this V8-Motor was not to be gotten vollgasfest, since in particular the cooling water channels were too small dimensioned. The same problem had at that time already the V8-Motor diplomat of A and/or B. Opel stopped therefore this model few weeks before the planned introduction on the market"

Thing is is this the same engine that they use in the Monaro ETC............. if so how do the manage to keep it cool in Australia?

Even if they stuck a whacking great V8 in an omega type saloon, it would probably cost about the same as a monaro

Not the same.

The Monaro uses the LS1/2 16V V8 power plant with singale valley based cam and push rods.

The Northstar engine is a snorting quad over head cam 32 valve monster as used in some Cadillacs.

I suspect the cooling could have been overcome with little effort.
